Hello! Happy Wednesday to you. I've been giving a few things around my house mini makeovers and I thought I'd show you how they turned out.
First up...a bentwood chair that I've had for probably ten years or so. I usually keep it in the bathroom as a place to sit while I do my hair. Since I always like to start my posts with a nice photo, this is the "after" picture...
Want to see the "before?" Here it is....
I liked it that way too, but just thought I'd switch things up a little.
Now, the next photo is most definitely a "before!" This little number has occasionally been used as the naughty chair at our house. Now we have a naughty bench...lol.
Ta! Da! Here's the "after"...
Much better, don't you think?
The last item I have for your viewing pleasure is a pie safe that I bought for $13.00. Can you believe it? Thirteen dollars! I found it in the basement of an antique store and when I saw the price I couldn't get it up to the register fast enough. Here's the "before"...
It had three coats of paint on it that I stripped off...what a nightmare. The next photo of it is more of an "in progress" photo. I'm in a bit of a quandary. Should I leave it this way or paint it? Prior to removing the paint I had planned on just leaving it metal, but I was kind of disappointed in how it looked after I got all the paint off. What do you think? I've wondered if I should paint it white...I can't decide...maybe just the metal...I don't know.
Well, there ya go...my makeovers. I've been working on a chalkboard for my daughter's bedroom too. Hopefully, I can show you her room soon. I know, I've only been saying that for about three or four months now :)
hugs ♥ tricia
I'm sharing my post at:

I think you need to come to my house...I need some major mini makeovers! You are so handy:)
ReplyDeleteGreat job on all your little projects! Love the pie safe,,,what a great find! and who wouldn't want to sit in that nicely made over "naughty chair" now ..take care.
ReplyDeleteHi Tricia,
ReplyDeleteI love it all!!
The pie safe is fabulous, I think the metal looks great but if you have to paint it, maybe just a light painting of white letting some of the metal show through.
Hope you have a great afternoon.
Sincerely,
Melinda
Love that little chair, so sweet with the flowers!!
ReplyDeleteYou're on quite the decorating roll! And you're sooo good at display, my friend. As for the last one, I'm mixed about that. Depends I guess on where you want to use it as to whether you want to paint it.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
gorgeous as usual Tricia..you're so inspiring!

Ooohh love your chair makeovers and I absolutely love that little pie safe! I like the metal- it looks rustic and so shabby charming! What a great find Tricia! :)
ReplyDeleteTricia..I loved your make-overs!
ReplyDeleteThe chairs are both so dreamy in white
and the safe is amazing in the colour you chose!
You've been busy...and the results are so nice xo
Ive been doing a little freshening up here and there in our home too...when the sun comes out, it puts me in the mood!
Have a great week dear :)
Deborah xoxo
Love, love, love the pie safe. I would keep it exactly as is - a great accent piece with all of your cream & white accessories.
ReplyDeleteThe chairs are darling! That first chair was just screaming to be painted white, it looks gorgeous! Wow, $13 for the pie safe was a great price. For me, whenever I'm going back and forth about painting something, the paint always wins out eventually! But either way, it looks great:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a amazing make-over, particulary of the little chair...it looks so cute! And I love how you staged it with the pages. I have had fun getting ready for your vintage party this week.
ReplyDeleteHi Tricia...
ReplyDeleteOooh...sooo many pretties, my friend! I love your chair makeovers and what beautiful photos! The first photo of your pretty (newly painted) white chair against your bed linens is just gorgeous!!! Love, love, LOVE IT! I also really like the little chair painted white...it certainly makes a beautiful vignette! And...as for your pie safe...OMG...just $13 for that little beauty??? Girl, you made off like a bandit! Hehe! I really like how it looks since you have stripped off the paint but also think it would be pretty painted white! Sheesh...that probably wasn't much help...was it? Either way...it's a fabulous piece! So very happy for you!!! Thanks for sharing all of your mini-makeovers with us today...this was such a treat, my friend!
Warmest wishes,
Chari @Happy To Design
Definitely leave it metal - it's so beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are all wonderful projects, Tricia! You have been very creative lately!
ReplyDeleteI love the naughty (or now...."nice" ;-) chair, it's darling! Great makeovers! The pie safe was the quite the find, girlie! I would paint it cream or white and shabby it if it was mine, but it looks cool the way you have it, too!

Hi Tricia,
ReplyDeleteFirst, your photos are great...love how you styled them and of course, I love the white paint.
Second, (I say) do NOT put a paint brush to that pie safe. It looks so good the way it is now...perfectly old and vintage. At most, a little white dry brushing. But everything you do turns out so pretty ~
Isn't it fun to get on a decorating roll. :)
Great before and afters, Tricia! Your styling is beautiful, as always. I would leave the pie safe with the metal finish, not paint it white. I love it at this stage, just the way it is. Great job! :)
ReplyDeleteHey Tricia! A little splash of white always makes things look better! lol! But I adore the metal pie safe! The gray is soooo vintage French looking! :)

Oh I love it in its metal state! I'd leave it but thats me. I'm sure it will look pretty if you paint it too. The metal just has such a cool look to it. The chairs look great in white. Nice and fresh looking.
ReplyDeleteThat zinc finish is Sooooooo happening! I love it that way! Your chair redos are fab too!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your visit Tricia. It is how I found you here, and I am so glad I did! What a beautiful blog you have! I absolutely love what you did with the chairs here. Such a beautiful difference!
ReplyDeleteI wish you a wonderful day!
lisa.
Love all the projects you've been working on, makes me want to break out the sandpaper. The naughty chair made me smile.
ReplyDeleteTricia,
ReplyDeleteThose are adorable!! Great job.
Isn't amazing to se the transformation??
As long as you have all the paint off, why don't you try a coat or two of wax on the back where it won't show and see what happens.. You could always paint it later.
ReplyDeleteTricia, I love the makeovers you did, and especially that amazing cabinet! It looks like old tin now. Just beautiful, well done, tami
ReplyDeleteYou are pretty incredible!!! That first image made my jaw drop it's so gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love your makeovers. My vote for the pie safe, which by the way was a great price, I would have thought there was a digit missing :) I think I would leave it...I like that look and it goes with your other white. Besides you could always paint it white later when you're ready for a "makeover". Take care!
ReplyDeleteHellooo Tricia!
ReplyDeleteDarling chairs! I've always loved the romantic style of the bentwood cafe chairs. The painted look is perfect for it!
What a deal on the cabinet. You worked really hard getting all that paint off. It would be a shame to paint it, in my opinion. I think the distressed metal is charming. Wouldn't change a thing.
XO,
~Michelle
I would leave it that way, I love it. 13 dollars is like nothing, what a treasure.
ReplyDeleteHenrietta
I think just a light white-wash would look good.
ReplyDeleteIsn't is funny how a coat of white paint can transform a piece? Beautiful makeovers. I think the pie safe looks wonderful, but if you are having doubts I say bring on the paint.
ReplyDeleteHave a terrific day and come by and enter my giveaway if you get the chance!
Sares (aka Tara from All That Jazz Vintage)
Everythin is gorgeous. And with three boys, I'm laughing about the naughty bench. :)
ReplyDeleteYou got the deal of the century on that pie safe. I sort of like it in its tin looking state. Did people use to have to lock up their pies though?
ReplyDeleteI am sooooo impressed Tricia!;) I LOVE your pie safe exactly how it is right now~I would leave it just like that~ Hugs,Rachel

It's beautiful! I like the metal better than the yellow, but white would be beautiful too. I have one painted a light aqua and it is pretty too! Quite a quandry. Why don't you keep it metal for awhile and if you get tired of it, you can always paint later?
ReplyDeleteHugs,
SHeila
These look absolutely lovely, Trcia. I rather like the cabinet-thing left like that. Is that weird?!!
ReplyDeleteIt seems to bring out the beautiful pattern more than with the paint on.
Sarahx
Everything is gorgeous as is your photography! As for the pie safe, LEAVE IT. LEAVE IT. LEAVE IT! I love it stripped (not to mention the work you put into removing the paint)...but it's your safe. $13? Wow. Thank you for sharing with my party, Tricia!
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Jami
Love everything - but that first photo is absolutely perfect! Love the color and composition and of course the chair!
ReplyDeleteYour makeovers are marvelous! Great results with such little effort - perhaps with the exception of the pie safe, of course. Which by the way, I love, love, love it stripped!
