HELLO!!! I'm back! It seemed like I was gone forever, but here I am finally. I hope you missed me, I sure was missing all of you...wondering what you were all doing. Do you want to hear all about my travels? No? Hmmm. Well, I know that hearing about other people's vacations is kind of a snooze fest, but I'm going to talk about it anyway. I'll try to be brief...mmmkay?
Okay, to reiterate, I drove to Florida with my sister and my daughter to visit my parents. My husband and son were also there for a little while, but they came by plane. As for the girls' road trip...well, things didn't start out too good.
About twenty miles from home, my daughter announces that she is going to throw up. So we pull over, rearrange her car seat to a new location, give her a snack, get out a movie and hope for the best. It's a no go. More exclamations of having to throw up, so it's off to Target for some car sick medication. Wondering how we were going to get a four year old to swallow a pillow, we tell her it's a "vitamin." Good thinkin'. Okay, moving on. There was a lot of driving and eating snacks and driving. And, of course, more driving. And how did that go you wonder? Well, aside from sitting in the car for 1600 miles we:
- saw a lot of beautiful scenery
- encountered a weirdo guy who was following us and cutting us off for no apparent reason
- had a moment where it sounded like a bolder fell off a bridge and landed on the car
- experienced the horror of driving through DOWNTOWN Atlanta in the rain, on a highway about eight lanes wides, in the dark, and at breakneck speeds. I seriously wanted to cry.
Finally, we arrived in Florida. Thank you God.
Things started out cold and a little bit rainy, which isn't a good mix when you are going to Disneyworld, but it wasn't too bad with our heavy coats and gloves on. We didn't have to do this everyday, but a few.
We also went to the beach, which was great. It was absolutely beautiful. Everyone loved the ocean. My children saw the ocean while visiting the west coast in November, but it was in a bay and had lots of boats and such. I really wanted them to see the vastness of the water, and luckily, they got to experience that this time.
After the my son and husband went home it was like someone flipped a switch and it got nice and warm and wonderful outside. We went to the town of Celebration a few times and had lunch. I really wanted to get some photos of the town the second time I went, but I forgot my camera! Ugh! I especially hoped to get a picture of the fountain that overlooked the water and of a sign telling you not to "feed or harass the alligators."
On one of our outings we visited the Harry P. Leu botanical garden near Winter Park, which was beautiful. It was so nice to walk around, enjoy the weather and take photos of all the pretty flowers. Here are a few, but I'm saving the rest for another post.
Sadly, our time of enjoying eighty degree weather and flip-flops had to come to an end and it was time to head back to the barren snowy tundra of Minnesota. How do I feel about that? Well, after experiencing what seemed like summer, let's just say I want to move.
Well, that's that people. My vacation in a nutshell. Hope you found it somewhat interesting. I'll be around to visit you all soon. I just about passed out when I looked in my google reader and it showed 1000+ new items.
Happy thoughts ♥ Tricia
