Vintage Goodness

Hola! Happy Thursday to you! I hope you're having good week.

I thought I'd pop in for a quick hello and show you a few pretty things that came my way recently.

A few weeks ago, my friend Linda, from Itsy Bits and Pieces, sent me something wonderful. Look at these pictures...can you guess what it was? If you know Linda, you know the answer. Those sunshiny yellow roses? Nope, that was something I got from myself. The cafe au lait bowls?'ve seen those plenty of times. That only leaves those little tidbits of vintage goodness...just the sort of thing I love to photograph. There's actually a bit more than you see here, but I'm saving those for another group of pictures :)

Getting that package was such a ray of happiness in my day! I've been feeling a like a total Debbie Downer lately and to have someone think of me really brightened my spirits. Thanks, Linda :)

For whatever reason, old weathered wood just calls my's the natural earthiness or the texture or something.

I saw a vintage chicken carrier at a shop near me the other day. I keep thinking about it...old wood with a pretty patina. I'm wondering what I could do with it though, besides just having it sit there. I kind of like for things to be useful, especially if it's something big. Any thoughts?

So long for now!

Flower Power

Hi everyone!  Happy Friday to you!

I thought I'd show you a few photos that I took recently when my girl and and I went on a little outing to the park. We're so lucky to live so close to such a wonderful place. It's just across the road from our neighborhood...1,600 acres of beauty and fun, full of all sorts of things to do...walk, bike, swim, ski, golf and ride horses, just to name a few. I guess I should add photography to that list too, shouldn't I?!

Up near the community center there's a little flower garden brimming with all sorts of pretty plants...roses, zinnas, cosmos...too many to list, really. Anyway, that's where we went to snap a few photos shortly before the sun completely hid itself behind the trees.

My daughter had so much fun singing and dancing...pretending she was putting on a show for me while I sat on the bench. I think I told you last time how she started Kindergarten this week...well, it couldn't have been worse timing because she has been so sick with pneumonia that so she was only able to go to school for one day!

I'm praying that next week has better things in store for us.

On a happier note, the weather here has been absolutely glorious! I'm trying to get outside and enjoy it as much as I can. It certainly is beginning to feel like autumn and while I have the urge to start decorating for the season, there's a part of me that's trying to hold onto summer for just a bit longer.

Well, so long for now. Hope you have a good weekend!

Spreading the News

Hi everyone! Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

My kids started back to school today and I must say I'm a little weepy about it, especially since my little girl is now in kindergarten...I can't believe how quickly time flies. Now that I'll have some extra time on my hands, I've been thinking about a few things that I'd love to finally get done around my know, just freshen things up a bit. Sometimes I think the start of the school year brings up feelings of new beginnings, don't you?

I was thinking that some of you may be feeling this way too, so when Tracey from French Larkspur asked if I would help her spread the word about a new e-course called the Creatively Made Home that she is hosting along with four of her creative friends, SaraJeanne, Kimberly and Jennifer, I told her I'd gladly help.

The Creatively Made Home e-course is about loving your home, loving your family
and blessing those around you...and having fun doing it!

Here's a few highlights:
  • There will be 50+ incredible project videos...these will include everything from gardening, cooking, gift giving and decorating.
  • There will be written tips from each host telling you how she puts together a room, picks paint and fabrics, etc...invaluable insight for putting your own home together.
  • Tons of beautiful house photos from each of the five women.
  • Each week a room from one of YOU will be selected and all five women will give their suggestions about how they would transform the room with their style.
  • Each person registered will get an easy entertaining e-book containing recipes, drinks and table settings to download.
  • There will be a private Facebook group to connect with other participants.
  • Once a week live discussions with one of the teachers.
  • You'll also get printables and pdf's to keep and use again and again.
Class begins October 22nd.
